In her current body of work, Michelle Kimmons is investigating the subtle space where meaning and power coexist as icon and expression. These paintings explore her experiences growing up in a world of fading
international and cultural boundaries, and where acknowledgement of the natural world has become dire. Her bold palate combined with an expressive, gestural stroke reflects perhaps a hint of influence from California's figurative painters. Originally from Sevierville, TN, Michelle is currently working as the resident artist at the Sequatchie Valley Institute in Dunlap, TN.
