Yonder Farm Community Supported Agriculture
The mission of Yonder Farm CSA is to enhance the health of the people
and the environment of East Tennessee by providing local produce grown
free of chemicals and using only ecologically sound farming practices.
By joining this cooperative group you will reestablish a relationship
between farmer and consumer. Out of this relationship arises a new freedom
which ensures the survival of the small family farm and the health of
your own family.
Yonder Farm and Weaving Arts Studio combine forces to present nature-oriented
workshops.
Time B: 4:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: Free for CSA members, (one per family, $10 additional adult, $5
kids)
$15 for non-members, all supplies included.
Non-members are also invited to the Potluck dinner at 6:30 pm.
Make it take it classes will be offered before the classes from (Time
A) 2:00 to 4:00 pm for an additional fee. $5 for members, Non members
$15, Both classes $25.
Advance registration required so that adequate supplies are available.
No experience is necessary.
June 15: 4 to 6:Hows and Whys of organic gardening.
includes soil preparation, double dug beds, companion planting
2 to 4: Garden Journal. Learn simple bookbinding techniques to construct
a garden journal. Pages on herbs and organic gardening will be included.
July 6: 4 to 6 Garlic braids: Learn the basics of planting, growing
and drying garlic; then learn how to braid the stems and add flowers to
create a decorative hanging.
2 to 4: Paper Making. We will make our own paper using age-old techniques
with modern simplicity and recycled fibers. We will make paper of all
sizes and shapes and decorate them with herbs and flowers found in the
garden.
August 10: 4 to 6: Cooking with Herbs We’ll cook with herbs,
learn mouth watering combinations, and a few gardening tips.
2 to 4: Clay pinch pots and garden markers. If you’ve always wanted
to get your hands in clay, here’s your chance. We will make pinch
pots that can be used for planting small herbs or cacti and permanent
markers for garden plants.
September 7: 4 to 6: Food preservation. When to can, freeze,
or dry and recipes for using each process.
2 to 4: Indigo dying. Learn the secrets of dyeing the color blue with
natural dye. This is a seemingly magical process that has existed on every
continent for millennia. |
